Re-typing or type confirmation

I think this is a great chance to discuss the topic more! I'd like to pitch in a few thoughts.



Yes. I haven't quite outlined all the details I've picked up on in the book, but having been doing typings officially for the past two weeks, and having tried these questions on friends/family, I can see a strong trend:

1) The "Q&A" format calls forth the introverted functions more. It causes greater degree of Ji and even Pi, that may be disproportionate in more natural settings. (I have to say, The Doctor was actually one of the first to pick up on this.)

2) There is often an extra level of nervousness involved, as well as uneasiness talking to a camera. The camera doesn't provide any feedback or anything to surf off of. What that means is that, unless someone has such strong Pe/Je functions that they surf off of their own self-generated energy, they will appear more introverted. Eventually their output will die out until the next question arises.

But we can account for this in our analysis in a few different ways. By not simply looking for a general tally of active versus inactive signals, but also the quality of them each.

a) In PeJi types, appearing like JiPe types: Paying far closer attention to the initiation of subtle drifting and momentum. Even if they appear very sedentary... how do they perk up, when they do animate? Is it an energetic swing with a little bit of a "bounce" to it? If they do pick up bodily energy quickly, then we see the Pe undercurrent.

b) In JePi types, appearing like JiPe types: Paying far closer attention to the ease of accentuation, and to the "returning tide" of Ji. When Je is leading, then the person may still be reflective and sedentary as they calculate (J) their answer, but upon delivery of their views - their Je will deliver them with forwardness. The way Ji-leads deliver Je is strained and this is what we call the "exerted push" of Ji.

When Fi>Te: In all Te types, gesticulations accelerate very fast, so this "exerted" push is harder to see. But we can see it in how Te is not followed-through to the end. When Fi prompts a Te push, it'll be more faint, somewhat lower in velocity, and die down much quicker.

I see this same thing in David Sylvian. To capture one example, at 3:48-3:52, ending in "..live album that we're doing", his voice trails off into a sort of mumble as it dies down. His other motions are indeed snippy, but they seem to only have the energy of the first miliseconds of 'initiation' or 'pump'. Te doesn't follow through the entire span of the gesticulation.

And his voice recedes, he does many more eye-disengaging-down, and there's a sensitivity surrounding him rather than a steely Te composure.
