Lorraine - it's not seductive for me either...in that sense. I wasn't sure sure what Animal meant so I didn't mention it at first but now that you mention it, of course I'm not watching ASMR videos for that reason. I'm an innocent Fi user. But the roleplays help because if I'm only getting sounds, my mind starts drifting to something else, it must not be complicated, I must not see Angelica play all of Henry the 8th's wives (but I did ) - but if it has role playing elements I can actually keep myself focused to the sounds. If there are only sounds...my attention span is not good enough and I either fall asleep (which is actually good) or I find myself thinking about something else and losing the tingles.
I really love Latte - her role plays are not complicated, her voice is very good, hand movements too, the sound effects are perfect and she keeps you engaged enough to not open a new video every 5 minutes. Also, she has a very calming effect and seems to be a good person. But totally like a mom or a bigger sister, true. But hey, I'm living alone with my cat, I need this stuff or I will get 7 new cats.

I don't think Animal meant seductive just in that one sense, haha. But I know there are people who turn to ASMR for all sorts of reasons, including Fetish-y ones. I think she meant there's no soul in it, so It doesn't feed her own needs. I'm not there for passion, I'm just there for the tingles
As for cat purring - that one isn't a trigger for me
Lorraine , I thought so too but I wasn't sure because I heard some people really say it is seductive in that sense and I saw one or two videos that were going in that direction. Like oh, I am your girlfriend and I am making asmr-ish kissing sounds. Very weird. :/
About the passion, I don't know, I feel nostalgia/warmth. Not passion. I am also there mainly for the tingles. I am getting good feelings too but not anything similar to passion.
Maybe people who do it feel passion. And you totally could, it's something very broad, so you can always try out different sounds and role plays and create new scenes, use different stuff that makes nice sounds, get creative with everyday things you are using at home and also learn about many, many different subjects. For example you can't role play a nurse in World War 2 and know absolutely nothing about nurses in World War 2 - you have to get informed at least on a superficial level about what were the most basic things a nurse did, how she dressed, how she held her hair. Also you must think of what to say that fits the general theme and historical period AND is soothing for the viewers AND sounds good. It's not easy and really keeps you learning things all the time. Also, you can have a connection with so many people from all over the world. So, I can totally see it as becoming a passion for the one who is actually doing it.
Regarding authenticity - I think most of these people really want to help others feel happy and relaxed. Besides that, I think it's more on the playful experimental side than very deep and that's ok because if it was very emotional, it would be harder to keep feeling the tingles.
I entirely agree. It's about playfulness to me too. While there are many "fake"-seeming ASMRtists, I feel a level of authenticity in the ones I watch. But I think I understand what Animal is getting at for her own part. It's not her cuppa Β―\_(γ)_/Β― She's a very intense personality and it would be hard for her to be her in an ASMR context.
I myself would totally have fun with all the role-plays and showing off my stuff, lol, but I would not be helping people relax probably. I am too excitable ;p
I was referring to the tingles Lorraine, but it appears that both Ne/Si users and Se/Ni users have them.
To add to the conversation, as a probable SeTi, I can be relaxed by just watching someone calmly doing something that catch their whole focus. I like triggers such as sounds of objects but the most intense triggers are always whispers, often done by men. It relaxes me a lot (I love the "hypnosis" videos), but can also be a real thrill when the voice whispers at the back of my right ear, it don't know why it is this weirdly specific place
I also like the style of some ASMRtists, like the one of AMSRmagic which make me feel really cosy.
To reply to Erebo and bera, I think Se users are not always adrenaline seekers (I am definitely not), and that could be quite Se to just want to relax and enjoy the present experience
Lorraine , exactly, I am very excitable too and also make lots of fast hand movements that would really not help people fall asleep.
neon , yes, also I think no one can only be interested in very high adrenaline experiences, it must just be a preference. At the same time, I think everyone has had some moments when they felt like doing something dangerous, even if it was just driving a little faster or drinking a bit too much or travelling alone - it doesn't have to be something extreme, for some people it takes courage even to join a new book club or make a short presentation in front of other people and for them that causes adrenaline. So, I think it's more about a higher likelihood of Se users to do more dangerous things or to prefer them but we all want a bit of adrenaline in our lives from time to time.
You made me curious about ASMRmagic.
About the right ear...I don't know, I don't feel any difference between my right ear and my left ear. Maybe there are somehow more nerves in that area behind your right ear? Is this possible? Because I think it should be, since no one is perfectly symmetrical, but I'm not sure.
I discovered something else ! I feel the tingles much better when I have a fever and chills. They seem to be connected, so when I have a cold, the first thing I do is listen to ASMR videos. The first time I realized it, I got a little scared, because after an evening of fever, chills and ASMR, the next day I was feeling tingles on my head without any triggers ! And the tingles kept coming and going for the next 2 days (with no triggers or with very small triggers, so, it was enough to raise my eyebrows or touch my hair, but I still had fever and instead of just feeling that general cold and the chills, I also felt ASMR-ish tingles on my head). Now... I'm not completely sure this is a healthy thing to do. :/ It didn't seem healthy to me, but nothing bad happened, I just worried that I could get some sort of involuntary ASMR for life.
