i made a stupid drawing in paint (i don't have a scanner or a drawing tablet >.<) to share what criteria i use to distinguish Ni/Se Ne/Si scowl/eyebrow shape (is not always like this clearly):
Alerith maybe , i was thinking to continue my "seizure" of that post anyway, in project i was preparing (since long time) to write something about Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne
Alerith, my assumption is that it is indeed something to do with introversion. I say this because I also spend a lot of my time with Ti - so to speak - and I recognize what you're saying. The process is slightly different, though. Ti, for me, is thinking about a topic and always coming up with a new problem in regard to a thought, creating an answer for that, and so on. Ni is a bit different: it does make connections, but not like I've seen them in Ne/Si - it sort of looks at a huge field of information and pulls everything important towards the centre, molding the information to form a nice little ball. It's hard to describe, because it's not done conscientiously most of the time, just like we don't think about how we walk: we just do it.
In my head, however, I have a sort of image of how Ni works which is similar to this:
"we're fumbling fools ignorant of ourselves" - Auburn "the depths of dark Fe can go beyond our deepest fears" - Commakaze
I don't have a good camera, so I have to use my webcam. The picture didn't come out that well - I had to put my face right in front of my monitor - but I hope they serve their purpose.

ayoungspirit, yaaay! the moaaar wave is the real deal!! I'm glad you're also joining it.
I am excited and delighted to see members posting their scowls. This way I feel that I am learning mooaar about CT and also about the members of the forum, at a personal-intimate-scowling level. Scowl-photos also have a comical dimension, don't they.
ayoungspirit, I don't do that. My nostrils flare a bit - as you can probably see - which, for whatever reason, causes a muscle diagonally to the bottom (levator anguli oris?) of the nostrils to move up slightly, thereby making the corners of my lips to move up also.
If we keep scowling, soon we'll have brow ridges that not even the most archaic Cro Magnons could have competed with. :)I'm joining the bandwagon: moaaar scowls people!
I figured that I should contribute to this thread since It's definitely possible that I'm an Si-lead.
Regular eyebrow level:
Trying to remember something (searching scowl). I usually have this scowl if I'm trying to remember something and it doesn't go away until I remember or stop trying to remember. Is usually accompanied by eyes looking around in their sockets:
When encountering something confusing. This scowl will usually only last for a couple of seconds at most:
Scowling as hard as I can. This would never happen unintentionally:
"I have wondered by the past if it has something to do with dynamic resonance/superposition/isolation-of-common-traits/compilation/projection of data by the way of pre-verbal schemes of meaning (like the one in Kant "a priori synthesis" process, or the archetypes of Jung)."
Yes, that's exactly it. But this then has to be communicated verbally via judging functions. This is sometimes quite difficult: how do you explain conclusions you reach by pulling together various information gathered over periods of weeks/months/years, with the information coming in at random dates, not part of a continuous study?
Your metaphor reminds me a bit of Si also. I would say that beyond finding commonality, the information is also synthesized into something new. Of course, you probably did mention that, but I had a hard time following you in certain places.

Linus : Also, for the difference between the Si process and Ni process, I would simply say that Si, if I get it (L), compare/store/project autobiographical/sensation data while Ni do the same but with the outline of it, the scheme, the basic seme/semantic of it, the skeletal mold behind the concrete objects that you cannot put a word or an image on it, so basically the intuitive form.
All people can do both, and they probably emerge from the same set of experiences, but one will be more natural, spontaneous, than the other in my opinion. That is the difference between cognitive ability and cognitive type/profile. Maybe this is the reason why sometimes, Ni users can still do heavy scowl to find autobiographical information and Si users can do zoning out while not scowling that much if it still sufficiently abstract. People can be ambiguous between the two, as it is more frequency than systematic. It may shows in similar brain structure and similar lighting even with different order, hierarchy.
Hope I am not introducing confusing extrapolations

L your scowl seems definitely the Si type to me. To me you reminds a lot Russel Crowe, you don't have the same "pained expression" as he sometimes has (actually your stare is even more "badass" than him). You have a similar facial structure, and for me he is another Si lead like you probably.
