This is a collaboration with El Puente. It started when I was waiting for my burger in the pub and had nothing to do, so of course I started trying to type people in the pub. And then I started trying to type dogs in the pub. Turns out it is much more socially acceptable to stare at dogs.
Then I started thinking about cats, and one thing led to another...
I decided that both cats and dogs are typically Ji-leads, because -- well, there are a lot of philosophical problems with typing dogs and cats*, but one of the main ones is that they presumably don't have a Pi Worldview process to speak of. As I understand it, Subpolar is arguably the weakest position in which you could put Pi.
By the same token, I had labeled Ni-leads in the dog and cat quads as "impossible dog" and "impossible cat"... which kinda sounds appropriately badass when applied to someone like Bruce Lee (an Ni-cat type). But El Puente suggested the more evocative labels of Poker Dog and Schodinger's Cat (both pointing toward Ni "knowingness").
When we considered animal archetypes that might be imagined to do Ne abstraction, we came up with chimpanzees** and dolphins. Actually my first thought for Deltas was pigs, and here is a picture of an FiNe pig. But it was hard to empathize with the whole spectrum of pigs.
EDIT: I had posted the final typology here, but it turned out not to be final... El Puente and I are still discussing labels for the different types. I was just in a Te rush to put something out there. It's going to be amazing! Stay tuned!
*Of course I'm being silly with typing animals, since they don't have human-like cognition... or do they? This train of thought is primarily me creating mnemonics to learn the types, but on the other hand, there is embedded in it a real and interesting philosophical and empirical question about whether the eight-function system should and does apply to any other mammals.
**In truth, I would hypothesize that you actually can type chimps and that they might have all the types. Again this is more a silly mnemonic.
