So I thought I'd show you guys a bit of history. ^^; I mentioned elsewhere that what first helped me identify the differences in mannerisms was observation of my own family/friends who I had known on a psychological level for many years. Umms, I've gotten some criticism that my foundation may have been ill founded/mistyped making the rest of the model essentially wrong, so I thought I'd put this out there. I took these videos of them over a year ago. Didn't get to video everyone in my family just cuz it seemed awkward at the time but I did manage these. Lemmy know what you think!
Your SeFi friend doesn't seem to move her face with her eyes. Her eyes move left and right and up while her face stays generally in the same direction (towards the camera).
I want to ask about how growing up with people of certain types can influence facial expressions. For example: couples who end up looking more alike over time because they end up mimicking each other's facial expressions: www.livescience.com/8384-couples-start.html Might people of certain cognitive types be more likely to be affected by such a phenomena? I know that I sometimes mimic other people's smiles while interacting with them. I'm not sure if such mimicry actually can make a Fe-user look like a Fi-user or vice-versa in the boundaries of VR though.

She does. Um, similar to this post (http://cognitivetype.boards.net/post/449/thread) more factors are at play in deciding P vs J lead than just steered by eyes.
In fact, Ne-leads will almost never be steered-by-eyes in a directly linear sense. What typically happens is the eyes first look to the side, and the face catches up to them. So there's syncopation in the initial eye-movement and the face trailing behind the eyes. But still, the eyes are what are leading. But Se-leads can also have this happen to them, where they drift first (sharply) then the head follows after.
For my friend in particular, she's Te-heavy. Well in fact, she's heavy in the center oscillation (Fi/Te) in general. So some of that rigidity causes the body to sway less, but if you compare closely to other actual FiSe, you'll see that my friend's 'rigidity' is confined within the umbrella of visceral perception. The body momentum of Pe-lead is what prevails and the convictions of Fi/Te are treated as suggestive. She comes up with opinions in realtime which make some semblance of sense, but they're not convictions she's standing behind *.
The person has to be read as a whole, and all aspects/cues considered. And not just as a whole, but within the context of all other people. The cues are starting points but the real phenomenon becomes obvious when you encounter the actual type in real life. You'll then see that all types have their moments of being silly, of being more rigidly serious, but you'll catch the nuances of how those types express that silliness/energy/sobriety in relation to how other types express theirs -- and the difference becomes apparent.

* edit: Well ok that's not entirely accurate. P-leads do have convictions which can be held dearly, but they're a means to the ends of helping then flow in reality. J-leads use perception as a means to the end of creating an axiomatic foundation for, and to explain, their own flow and that of other things/people. Though even that's not satisfactory since some J-leads fail to reach their potential, so this is more of a fourth-hand effect.
