Hello, I recently joined this forum and here is my quick introduction. I'm 21 years old, live in Norway, and have been interested in personality types for about 2 months now. I was very excited when I first read descriptions of personality types that resonated with myself, and described people I knew and met. I spent many hours reading, trying to wrap my head around the principles that the theories were based on. However, I became increasingly frustrated with the superficiality and ambiguity in many of the popular "type-theories". Finding credible sources, that offers in-depth and legitimate answers and explanations, has been a great challenge for me so far, as I can imagine it has been for both the creators of Cognitive Types and many of the forum members here.
The ideas and methodologies presented on this website interests me greatly, and I'm looking forward to understand and learn more!
In any case. Hi! I've been interested in MBTI (at first) typing for a while now. I had to take it in my school during the college search a few years back. I got INFP and then INTP and I thought they were both innacurate and stupid. Later I ran into it again at school. I remembered that it was interesting so I took the test online and got ENFP. I totally connected with that and fell in deep everlasting love with understanding the principles on which the typing system was based. I love foreign languages and linguistics, as well as anthropology/sociology, neuroscience, history, cultural geography, music (playing and theoretically), and I heartly enjoy math and sciences. The process of learning the physical sciences can be lengthy and unpleasant for me, but I enjoy the way of looking at the world.
TL:DR I'm pretty much interested in anything and everything that has to do with what makes humans humans, the underlying principles of how the world and universe work, and how humans are connected to the world.
Cognitive Types is an awesome addition to that search for understanding. Finding my true type has opened up doors for me, and I hope to learn the skill so I can use it on everyone
I will take my turn then, too. I am 17, living in Germany currently. Since i was 13 I've been interested in different typing-theories, because they seemed to offer multiple ways of understanding myself better. After the enneagramm theory (I am a 9w1, tritype 9w1,2w1,5w6), I got in contact with the MBTI (INFP). Both theories helped me to actually understand myself better, no matter how legit they are from a scientific perspective. In the end it's about how they help me to grow, at least that's how I experience it. Of course I've doubted my types few times, of course I didn't always agree completely with all the theories, but in the end I came to understand myself better and was able to identify with one type and its individual characteristics and problems, thus being able to grow. During the last years I also learnt more about Freud and Jung and their differing theories. Except for psychology, I am interested in music, art, literature and history mainly. Maths and stuff like that aren't actually that bad or not interesting, but I just don't seem to be able to get it, and in the end it just turns out to be frustrating for me.:b As soon as I find something interesting, I have to read more and more about it and I can't stop until I've got the feeling of knowing 'enough'. It will probably be the same with the Cognitive Types. What I find most interesting about it is the great potential of understanding others better, through simply observing their patterns and being aware of their body language. It's not that much about who I am anymore, rather about who others are, how they think, how they feel, how their brain works - and Cognitive Types can actually be really helpful for that.
Hello everybody. First off I want to say it has been such a joyful experience stumbling upon CogntivieTypes on YouTube, watching the videos, visiting the growing website and forum. Now, let me introduce myself... my name's Shai (it's an Israeli name, pronounced "shy"). I'm 25 years old, male, and live in Boston, Massachusetts in the US. I first heard about type through a friend 5 years ago. We were both 20 years old and in college. He had to take an MBTI test for one of his courses (of course I totally forget what the course was haha ). Anyway he was typed as ENTP (NeTi) and felt certain it was accurate based on an MBTI personality description in a book. After learning about the functions, his result has proven to be 100% accurate, BUT my result was totally wrong. I scored ENFJ after taking the same test (75 questions or so) out of the book. I read the description, knowing nothing at all about functions, and believed it to be true (silly naive me!).
Naturally being fascinated by people and relationships, I continued to explore different types through descriptions in books and online. The big problem was the way the system was presented: I vs E, N vs S, F vs T, J vs P. I believed in that typing system for years and years before being exposed to the functions through Davesuperpowers youtube channel. Dave blew my mind. I started to become obsessed with the functions, studying how they fit in the MBTI system. It was through studying the functions that I discovered my true type: ENFP (NeFi). I'm so grateful for his channel, because knowing my type has helped me better understand myself and my relationship to the world, and to the people around me. My interest in knowing other people's types increases everyday. I am getting quite good at typing people (and was even before I learned about VR through the CognitiveType YouTube channel). I believe there is a definite essence to each type. For example, the "aimless thought" of the ESTP (...sorry!). Anyway, what I'm most interested in now is romantic theory. I've heard the judging functions should be the same (for example Fi/Te paired with Fi/Te), and the perceiving functions to be opposite (Ne/Si paired with Ni/Te). The order of functions in the stack / their positions in the wheel are also essential in understanding the dynamics of romance / partnership. I'm sure some of you have heard about this!
So hello to everyone! Looking forward to being part of all this.
Glad you stumbled upon this place also. Ah, romantic theory... curious topic indeed. o,o
I think there are a lot of elements involved in that, of which type is one. An important one nonetheless. There will be many threads on this, I anticipate.
Hi, my name is Antonio, from Mexico, 22 years old. I started my journey when I was in highschool when I answered an enneagram test my friends told me about. It was approximately 6 years ago. I didn't took it seriously until one year later when I started learning the basics. It was probably 3 years ago when I stumbled upon MBTI. I was practically interested in all types of personality typology (Big5, temperaments, HEXACO, blahblahblah...) and the most popular was MBTI (for vocational purposes; probably mostly in the US). And I was a fan of compartmentalization. I suddenly discarded the dichotomous approach of MBTI and started studying the JCF and some order/archetypal models (like Beebe's) because I started from forums where people immediately disregarded it. I was a member of PersonalityCafe, but enneagram was my main aim at that moment. I left PerC principally because I was "ashamed" of not knowing my type and not being able to determine it. I know myself better now (I'm more honest and more aware, for the better or the worse). Two of my basic premises in understanding myself and others (via typology) are that my subconscious speaks louder than my conscious, which is what I could be aware of and I'm (and all of us are) susceptible to differences in interpretation (which makes self-typing and typing others a process of critical thinking and questionning our "conclussions"). VR is magic for me and I support it (but not blindly). This is an opportunity for me to know objectively. That's why I was attracted to Pod'lair when I discovered it (but the ambient was cryptical, uninviting, off-putting and disenchanting). The ambient here is more modest and there's a general appreciation for leaning and understanding (not for intellectual superiority or power seeking). I like it here.

I'm also new, although I'm mostly browsing through the information. I may be old enough to be the mother of some of you, but I'm not pushing that button. Nope!
I've been interested in MBTI and Enneagram and personality typing for more than a decade (almost two[!]) and cognitive typing has interested me the most. In my opinion there must be a strong correlation between the mind and the body - and even the spirit; it's all intertwined. Our actions seem to mimic our unconscious thoughts whether we want them to or not, so these theories definitely intrigue me. I'm interested in knowing more about it (and myself in general; let's be honest, it's a selfish reason more than anything else).
I'll be around and about but I'm mostly a lurker. And a seeker.
Hi....my name is Hareesh, from India. I am 18..and have known about MBTI/socionics and personality typing for over an year. I am interested in learning about functions and typology in general. So because I show interest in introspection and learning about a system such as typology..I guess that one of my top two functions is either Ti/Fi/Ni. Also there is a very high probability that most of the people in this forum who have good knowledge about typing and such would have either of the 3 functions as their highest introverted function because it is this function that gives them interest in learning about systems like typology. Over the past year,I have typed lots of people in my college..most of them through direct observation...and I could say with certainty and 'this is your function stack'. Also typing just through the knowledge of cognitive functions and my personal experience/observation which is processed by my own mental framework will never give 100% accurate result. But I have been certain (of the c.type of the people I interact with everyday) as I could possibly be. But I have never been able to be as certain of deducing my own type....perhaps because of the lack of external validation.
Over a month ago..I learnt about visual reading of CT. Although it is not 100% accurate..it is more accurate than any other method to deduce a person's c.type and if mastered...it is also very quick to determine which function a person uses. So here's me learning visual reading, type theories, hoping the veterans here at CT could maybe help determine my cognitive type for good.
People with high Si can have interest in typology as well. I wouldn't even say there is a higher chance of someone being interested in typology and not having Si as a higher function. People with Si also have Ne and a Ji function . Forget everything you know about Si stereotypes/ MBTI Si. No really, do it.
That was off topic, so I'll introduce myself here since I haven't before I guess.
I originally found MBTI on the internet about a year ago, and I took a test. I thought it was pretty cool because a lot of the things it said were accurate and I could see how they are applicable to other people. I sent the test to my friend, and he started to look into it a lot, as did I. I was pretty inconsistent in my interest in typology until I found the CT forum. I would be really into it at one time, then never even think about it the next. Now I visit the CT forum every day, multiple times a day. I think that the theory has a lot of potential. My name on the forum is "l" because it's the first letter of my first name, if anyone was wondering.
Aside from type theory, in general I'm looking to grow as a person every day and learn new things. Take in new information, consider things, philosophize... Every day is something new. I also like logic/reasoning things, and coming up with viewpoints of things that can be applicable to a variety of situations/ areas. Another thing I like to do is look at how contradictory everything is, dunno why.

Hello, for those of you who have seen my typing video (and I appreciate your sheer patience), I will give here more casual information about myself. My name is Pierre and I am a 24 years old french student in literature with a wordplay in his board name. I have lazily studied the derivative forms of Jungian typology these last two years, mostly on the internet and during a mild phase of introspection, but I didn't thought before of partaking directly in a forum. The strong and holistic approach taken by Cognitive type and the lure of direct video typing have stimulated my curiosity enough to broke my habit and try the social experience. Most of my thought on the subject have been scattered through the moments and not rigorously developed, but I hope I will be able to contribute in a form or another. Good luck to the team, and see you soon.

You maybe right...but I guess when generalizing..people with high Ni/Fi/Ti are into this kind of interest or vice-versa. But of course..to be specific..it all depends on the person. Yet if one is Si dominant..it would imply Ti/Fi being the Tertiary function..~connect~. I like to talk about what I learn and about the topics of my interests...and ESJs seem to be the type least interested in conversing about and being least curious about learning typology.
By MBTI, sure. SJs in general, in MBTI, don't really have theoretical interest. As for JeSi types, nah. If I recall correctly... DaveSuperPowers=TeSi Pneumoceptor=FeSi Thehotavacado=FeSi
Although to be fair there haven't been JeSi types (as far as I've seen) on this forum.
Yes...you maybe right about this..but I just generalized that's all. Also there is chance these people are over the age of 20 and got interested in this after maybe 20...because after that age...their inferior function develops fastest I think..not sure about this though.
I guess a short intro would be appropriate on my behalf, too. I'm actually planning on writing about TeNi experiences in life on a separate thread somewhere, so I won't make it heavy here.
I've been interested in all kinds of personality systems for about 20 years now, both more esoteric and scientific. My most common results in MBTI have been INFJ/INTJ, in Jungian cognitive functions INTP/INFP, in enneagram 5w6, in Big5 Limbic (high neuroticism, high openness), in socionics I don't remember - maybe something corresponding to ENFJ in MBTI. I've had great difficulties in deciding whether I am more feeling or thinking oriented, which has made MBTI and Jungian type a bit difficult to decide on. I've regarded myself as mainly introvert, especially in lifestyle, and I was a bit shocked to learn I have such a prominent Te expression in me. No wonder people take me as an opinionated, intimidating, scary person. I'm not, it just looks like that, because I care so much! *puts sunglasses on*
I'm over 30, so according to some personality theories, my identity should be more or less fixed by now. It ain't. However, this site has really made me take a huge step forward in self-understanding. I tend to believe that our behavior is more telling than our self-assessment, because our physical manners, body language etc. represent most authentically our brain's workings. I just didn't have proper tools for doing that kind of analysis before, although I tried some systems using more physical/behavioral assessments, like Energy profiling by Carol Tuttle, which is a very simplified non-scientific system having only four main types. They were just not scientific enough for my taste, whereas this site seems to have more potential. I'm really looking forward on future developments, and I have to get more acquainted with Dario Nardi's work as well. I hope to develop some visual reading talents myself, my husband having been the first victim. (I'm pretty sure he's NiTe, as he has an archetypal deadpan face, but there's a slight chance he's TiSe, because there are no Fi clues on his face. I wonder if Fi can be almost non-existent in some individuals with a very strong NiTe...)
My mother tongue is not English, so please forgive me errors in language. I'm from Finland, and in the light of my culture, I'm not surprised of having Te dominant expression. If I had to describe a stereotypical Finn, he would have a deadpan face, monotone speech, steady disgusted stare, and unemotional and blunt expression. But thinking of it, I don't know that many Te dominant people, so it might be me looking at the mirror here.
Hi everyone, I'm A (on this forum, anyways. I typed it in by accident and just sort of liked it). I'm very excited to meet you all. I'm a college student majoring in physics, with no clue what I want to do with my life, and I'm off to England in a few days, but will still be lurking here while I'm oversees. I'm hoping to pick up the hang at typing others, but suspect it will be a challenge for me, as I have trouble noticing and remembering details, particularly about other people (including names, embarrassingly enough), but the only way to get better is to practice, so here I am. I'll also be posting a video in a bit of my functions on tired. Once I find somewhere that'll let me upload it. Stupid youtube.
I typically test INTJ or INTP, but have trouble relating with the extremely cold descriptions of the types. Just because I don't understand emotions, my own or others, doesn't mean I don't have them. Plus, I'm an optimist at heart, and no IxTx function seems to be. Which is an issue as, using standard MBTI, I'd make the worst feeler ever, so I will laugh if that's what I end up. Anyway, I'm hoping this method will prove a bit more coherent, particularly as none of my functions were in the right order before, probably because the descriptions were really vague and it's hard to take a fully objective view on how you think compared to everyone else.
Great to meet you all and look forward to learning more about ourselves and the world together!
