I felt inspired to make this thread after watching a series of different AMV's (anime music videos) and seeing the cognitive functions they mainly embodied. Hence, I brought it on myself to find some good ones that represent just that, to post here. Keep in mind that these are my own interpretations and they're not meant to be "official typings" of any sort, as I could be wrong. If you do disagree with me or want to post your own videos, feel free to say/do so--I'd appreciate it.
I find this to be a metaphor of how Si creates its worldview (correct me if I'm wrong) in the way that it picks up detached pieces from the environment to then "glue together" and make into something holistic. While watching the video, you have no expectations of how exactly it will unfold (in terms of what the floating objects (Si) symbolize), let alone end--it takes you by surprise.
Compared to the Si videos, this story line is very Ni; you expect every occurrence after the other without much surprise. The Se moments compliment the Ni story and give it more content to fill itself with.
I saw this movie a short while ago and it struck me pretty hard how Se-oriented it is. The whole atmosphere of the movie is colored by Se (as well as a few Fe themes here and there) which you can tell just from the trailer alone. It's very connected to nature, the body, violence, instinct, etc.
I can't say if that is a common tendency among Ni-doms nor did I imply it with the Ni vid I posted. It was the clearest Ni video I could find so that's why I included it. I think people who are generally outwardly attracted to darkness are also attracted to the darkness within themselves and (unconsciously) exploring it. In terms of horror in relation to Se, it can give you an adrenaline rush if you find it scary/exciting more than many other Se experiences, which can of course make an Ni-dom (or an Se user in general) drawn to it.
This game looks so Ni it almost hurts my brain (but with some themes of Se like the violence and acrobatics/parkour). It's incredibly linear in the way that each segment flows into the next so casually. The way you run around the place makes me think of what it's like to explore the very holistic and stable map of Ni; it's as if everything is already laid out for you and you just have to find it.
*raises hand* i have a few (like elly, i too don't mean the following to be anything "official". just some personal impressions)
This video always struck me as 'classy' Se. Not just because literal events are being outlined step by step, but in what is intuited and highlighted about the scenario with each verse. It's all about the things that affect her experience. The voice seems a bit bored/bothered by the inconvenience of the whole matter. Things are described in such few words but they bring so much imagery to mind.... seemingly without even 'trying'.
"...and before I even argue" - verses like this are so curious. it's said so nonchalantly, in a way that feels like it's obvious and even 'expected' that her reaction would be what it was. quite Ni.
I also get a bit of an Fi vibe from it... even a bit sassy. There's a bit of Fi passive-aggressiveness and a bit of a cold-shoulder reaction. I can just imagine the protagonist raising her eyebrows in dismissal as she shrugs to the side, keeping the man and woman in her peripheral vision.
When I played the video, my first thoughts were: "ahaha -> Ne -> Ne video -> Functions As Expressed In Videos thread -> Scat-Scattered-Man -> was that a scattered Ne mood on that day? -> is Scatman a high Ne user? -> Gonna checkz -> *checks* -> ..."
This was the video:
Then the checking part! - getting to know Mr. Scatman John ^^
and he leaves his positive message: "we all have problems (...) I am a person who stutters, because I stutter, I scat-sing, because I scat-sing, I am scatman..."
Suzanne Vega, some posts above, seems gamma. NiTe?
Se/Ni and Fi/Te maybe? the overall theme is obviously dark and visceral and I personally find that both the themes, mood, psychological and emotional tension displayed in both NGE as well as death grips' music go together terrifyingly well.
This music video is a little unnerving yet whimsical as well (the fish eye lens sure does the trick!). It's has this confrontational in-your-face air to it (literally) but it also has that Ne playfulness as well.
Sort of hard to tell for me but I sense some Se/Ni linearity going on, mostly because Doom is just spending his day but the way it's displayed makes it so that the viewer is experiencing past and present at the same time as well as it bleeding into each other. It's simplistic yet it also holds some small intricacies here and there.
Ooone more I promise. So feeling lots of Fi tension here. Living in the city for too long must make you feel sort of trapped, and you just want to get a way from it all, maybe even partake in some clubbing just to shed those pent up emotions for the week. The overall song feels a tad bit intimate as well, and not necessarily a club banger.
