This is just a place to share thoughts on these two systems, how they relate to each other, and (most importantly) parts where they seem to be describing a similar fragment of psychology. There's not really a one-to-one correlation between the two, but finding when two systems appear to be talking about the same thing can lead to a better understanding of both.
For example, 5 and Ti-lead integration.
The Ennea-5 is a closed-off, precision-oriented, emotionally non-expressive type. It's sensitive to social overwhelm and often prefers the company of things and hobbies to people. This alone sounds like a Ti-lead to me, but 5 and Ti both overcome their paralyzing, overprecise inaction by gaining use of a proactive, pushier strategy. An essay could be written about how Fe is as much 8 as it is 2 or 9, but that's been discussed at length on this forum already. The connection to 7 parallels to Ti's relationship to Pe, and how Ne and Se are helpful but not as important to integrate as Fe to an unhealthy Ti.
All these connections have negative sides, as well. 7/Pe can be destructive for the 5/Ti to lean on, as it serves as more of a distraction from the psychologies' problems than solutions for them. Getting out of unhealthy 5 mode (TiSi or TiNi) can and should be using Pe to freshen things up, but is also likely to just introduce a new problem to obsess over without actually moving forward or learning to bring closure. The integration to 8 (Fe) is an important step, but can be done in an unhealthy way. Enneagram theorists will say that 8's negatives (brashness, lack of tact, territoriality) can reinforce 5's desire for independence and isolation, ending up with a 5 that only summons 8 to "get the kids of my lawn" before returning to isolation. I see this as a parallel to Fe; Ti can easily just take the social sensitivity from Fe and use Fe-Negative to be a total crabapple and push people out more harshly than just being Ti-Chilly.
9's connection to 3 and 6 can be seen as similar. 7's connection to 5 and 1 feels like the relationship of Pe to Pi and Ji. Connections in general feel like function integration to me, and I'd like to see this overlap discussed more.

So this thread is for this kind of stuff. Not a complete integration or usurpation of either system by the other, but using shared territory as a validation that what we're looking at is a real thing that real people go through.
