The explorer processes are, to use a familiar metaphor, the eyes of a child. A type of wonder at mystery and the openness/vulnerability toward transience are part of the constitution of Pe. (a wounded Pe type will rely more on Pi, but we'll get to that in another thread) While it's true that we all go through childhood, it's Pe that retains that youthful spirit within us which is ready to abandon the known for the unknown, and to re-imagine and re-conceive reality in ways we never before thought of.
Phenomenology
Thirst for Life
There is, in it, an eagerness toward experiences. We're all familiar with the restlessness caused by hyperactive Pe, but I'd like to explore some of the nuances of even just regular Pe usage. We receive from the explorer process the elation of new perception; of sunset watching, cave explorations, ocean sailing, travel and all sorts of fluid and rich happenings.
The explorer process wants to rediscover everything on its own. It may not be enough to view something in a book; the greatest fulfillment comes in real-time happenings. While more attention has been paid to Se's tendency to be connected to the real-time moment, Ne is equally dependent on what the present brings in terms of potentialities and avenues for thought-surfing. A stagnant and textureless "present" will yield no properties from which it can branch. The explorer process is animated and seeks animation.
Plasticity
Too old for new tricks? Never; Pe will make room for them. Due in part to Pe's refresh factor, learning a new task/language/exercise is always plausible. In the worst case scenario, older abilities are simply forgotten with time. In this sense, Pe can be quite unlimited/uninhibited, as it gives the person an ability to update and upgrade themselves endlessly.
Along with this plasticity, there is also a vulnerability in Pe (when well cared for) that allows for one to surrender to transience and learn to evolve as you go. Even for some Pe types, their own ability to lose grounding can be unsettling. But it can also be a gift if it's honed properly, and Pe can give all types a capacity to recover from hardships, maintain hope for life and "just keep swimming."
Sense of Humor
Humor's a vast and complicated phenomenon, and isn't fully the result of Pe's operation. But Pe itself certainly adds to one's ability to recognize the humor in things. This is in part because of the novelty involved in humor and the way Pe also plays into (and seeks) novelty. In a similar vein as a thirst for life, Pe also seeks for an amplification of the present experience. If the waves can be surfed at a higher amplitude, then Pe will aim to go there. This means Pe can provide a great deal of energy toward raising the euphoria/laughter of the present, and we often see Pe types as comedians. For all types, Pe can give an added ability to appreciate fun/play and to gain the benefits of enjoying life as it comes.
How do you feel about Pe in general?
* How do you experience your own Pe process?
* What gets you in a really fluid state of being?
* How do you feel about the Pe of others around you?
