For a long time, I resisted the possibility that I could be a Te-dominant. I initially thought that I was one of the two possible -NFP types. I thought that there was simply no way that I could be this type.
However, now that I understand the theoretical underpinnings of CT a lot better and that I realize that all of these types are meant to describe how we process things cognitively rather than necessarily implying certain behavioral modalities, I can see (especially how I interact in my videos) how I actually am a TeNi type.
In the past, I used to consider such ENTJ-ish stereotypes such as being in charge, leading and commanding, and general dominance characteristics as core Te traits (none of which I feel really strong at to much of any degree). This behavioral focus prevented me from truly understanding the pure essence of each cognitive function (and most notably, Te).
However, as a unanimously confirmed TeNi, I can say for sure that I really care about making sure that things 'move forward' in an effective way. I really don't like stagnancy, and I'd rather see signs of progress and forward movement, and it shows up in all of my 'directive' actions as I interact with the world. I also care that all commonsense logistical factors/variables are accounted for. For life to work seamlessly, I believe that it is important to realistically address a problem in a way that takes all the proper outer considerations into account. As an extraverted type, I feel that realistic attention to the situation at hand will generate minimal distortion of what is known to be factual and truthful. (As an Enneagram type 6,) I find myself to be very interested in discerning truth from falsehood, and as a Te-dom, that truthfulness simply has to show up viscerally in our world (and it can't be imagined or distorted too much). Also as someone with a strong natural science background, I am very interested in understanding all the forces at play in terms of painting an accurate (and hence, effective) picture of what really is going on.
I tend to thing that every Te type is interested in some level of real, direct and factual truth that allows the outer world to operate in a manner that minimizes distortion/bias and cuts to the heart of what remains objectively (in as much as everything really can be objectively measured/assessed) true and accurate. Also, within the Te is that desire to move forward in a direct and authentic manner, to keep momentum going and to resist stagnation. To not beat around the bush nor to waste one's life away. I think that in this type, meeting and addressing life as it comes is so pivotal towards understanding our world and maximizing our day-to-day impact on it.
I'd like to think that this can shed greater light/understanding as to what Te really aims for....That it isn't really about world domination, or being a mastermind, a general, or a CEO. Sure, Te dominants can be those, but on a more strictly cognitive and archetypal level (which frankly is the level that the cognitive functions are meant to work at) there is simply a more fundamental way that Te-dominants view the universe. I hope that I tapped into this pivotal quality to a reasonable degree.
