Welcome! My first quick impression is heavy use of both introverted functions and much, much less of the extraverted ones. I think your Ji is Fi, though from just glancing over it's difficult for me to say whether you use Ni or Si. I'm not sure which is your lead, but I suspect Fi. I'll come back later and do a better job, and hopefully some other readers will have some input between now and then.

Analysis:

The most prominent function that shows up for you is Ni. Your style of speaking reflects a go-with-the-flow kind of mindset (P), dismissing stirrings as they pass as you move forward. Your speech is also somewhat cryptic at times, evidencing that you're the type of person to speak directly from an internal worldview that is interconnected in ways unknown to others (Ni). For example, you say: "...but then I don't think it's available [somewhat "cryptic", no apparent reasoning] -- it's a very available answer, so [universal thinking?] -- I would say I want more certainty in my life... Your J functions aren't heavily represented at all with few signals, but still very clearly coming from a Te/Fi axis. The way you answer the love question demonstrates this a bit: "I think it's when someone is really attached to something or someone -- something could be, for example, an activity or [definition incorporates all love, for people and things, general/universal (Ni)] -- yeah something like that. It doesn't really -- yeah, it's more about the attachment when you put all your mind and heart and head and everything into someone/something... [somewhat personal (Fi), but detached (T)]"

I think I might be able to give you some information that might give you a little insight.


One of the most important things to keep in mind when learning about CT is that it does not translate directly to MBTI. In fact, we use the functions in the type names (NiTe instead of INTJ) for that exact reason, to keep the two systems separate. While many NiTe are INTJ, many are also not, and I think that this in particular is one of the CT types most likely to not identify with its MBTI "counterpart". We use the standard function names, but because we attach them to visual (and hopefully someday neurological) evidence and study them from there, we use them as purely cognitive, information processing styles rather than personality traits. They will cause differences in personality, but the functions themselves do not directly correlate to behaviors as they do in much of the greater typology community.

For example, while Si is positively correlated to traditionalist worldviews, having Si>Ne cognition does not always make you a traditionalist, and you definitely cannot assume that someone has that Si>Ne cognition based on how traditionalist they are.

One of the biggest deviations we have from MBTI (and other Cognitive Function systems like Socionics, with which we otherwise have more in common) is that in CT, function use (and thus sometimes perceived ordering) is flexible. In MBTI, an INTP is always Ti>Ne>Si>Fe, and the use of Si and Fe is severely inhibited or distorted. But in CT, all functions are used in cognition, and indeed a TiNe could be your standard Ti>Ne with little to no Si or Fe, or Si could be the second strongest function producing a TiNe-Si, or a "TiSi" if the Ne is weak enough, or in the opposite case, have such strong Ne that the individual almost appears NeTi at times.

This concept leads me to another that we call "temperaments", which is our attempt at understanding and explaining the disconnect many feel between their CT type and MBTI type. The varying function usage leads to a different internal experience (and oftentimes outward expression of personality) than is considered "standard" for the type. Contrary to MBTI, which describes strong lower functions as "gripping", we consider this non-standard type expression to be natural, and subtype is one of the many ways in which people develop and express the cognition with which they were born. Here's how we think about temperament:

-Standard NiTe (Ni>Te>Fi>Se) is natively Introverted, Intuitive, and Logical, so the standard temperament is INT
-NiTe-Te has stronger Te than most, and because Te is the primary mode of external engagement, many of this subtype consider themselves ENT
-NiTe-Fi often have stronger Fi than Te, and because the two most influential functions in the psyche are Ni and Fi, they may consider themselves INF
-NiTe-Se will often have a strong desire to incorporate Se's gritty, realistic understanding of things, and have a desire for those kinds of strong experiences, and so display IST

I personally think there are more modes of expression than these available to NiTe, and I think most would agree, but it's currently generally accepted that this will be the most common. The internal experience of type is a complex subject, with a lot of discrete pieces that work together.


All that said, NiTe-Fi, or perhaps NiFi, is a definite possibility for your subtype, and it would explain the various alternative types you've mention. Like INFJ, NiTe-Fi leads with Ni and has a strong Ethical (F) temperament. Like INFP, it's introverted/intuitive and has strong use of Fi. Like INTP, it's introverted/intuitive and has strong Ji, and the experience of strong Fi with Te may at times resemble Fe, same as INFJ. ISFP shares all the same functions, and the Introversion and Fi-use are similar.

It's probably more helpful, actually, to think of NiTe-Fi as a sort of hybrid between INFJ and INFP, leading with Ni but using Fi instead of Fe, rather than as a type of INTJ.

Thanks for your essays, I didn't expect such long and detailed answers. This was definitely helpful!

Zweilous, it actually puts into words what I think was missing with other systems. And obviously this flexibility applies better on my "case". Everything makes more sense now with the temperaments. Regarding MBTI, I always had struggles determining F or T and J or P. Then I tried to look at the functions and even socionics. But for the moment this visual typing convinces me more than previous systems, I really should consider NiTe-Fi.

As for the way I got into typology was exactly in those steps Auburn. I didn't know about cognitive functions at first and went through many types as I mentionned it earlier. And even when knowing about cognitive functions, it didn't correlate very well. I got apparently "typical" INFJ results based on cognitive functions. But then, rethinking about it, I wouldn't put too much consideration on that test (I know which answer correlates with x function kek). Also your diagram is fresh air.

For the moment this approach seems the most convincing, I'll have to read more about this on other topics.

NiTe-Ni = INT
NeFi-Ne = ENF
NeTi-Ne = ENT

SeTi-Se = EST
TiNe-Ti = INT
TiSe-Ti = IST
FiNe-Fi = INF
FiSe-Fi = ISF

All the rest (48) will probably be mistyped.. because MBTI doesn't take into consideration development levels. But I didn't list them all in the diagram above diagram.

It's also incredible to me just how many people are not the "standard" subtype.
Personal development and nurture really play a major role in our psychology.
It's not really possible to uncover CT objectively with a model at such low resolution (16).

Honestly I wouldn't split hairs over trying to make each unique function development align to a temperament.
Because the relationship is not bi-directional in a 1:1: way. That's precisely the problem that MBTI faces...
The reality is far more complicated than that, and there's loss of data in translation to --> temperaments.

Take for example the FeSi-Ti, who we've discussed more lately. One could say he's an ENT temperament, ...but having a polarized Fe/Ti axis actually means they may identify as neither F priority or T priority; but a perfect balance of both. And some may have such strong Ti that they consider themselves INT. Or some may still identify as an F type, if they way they've reconciled their Fe/Ti axis is in such a manner that Ti usage is seen in service to Fe values and Fe values are kept at the forefront. This is impossible to predict, to some degree, because it deals with people's very nuanced mental trajectory or rationalization path.

I could go the path of saying that a TeNi with developed Fi+Ni combo would produce ENF because it's Fi+Ni under the wing of a natively extroverted process (E) and so the "E" comes from Te, the "N" comes from "Ni" and the F" comes from "Fi." But that seems quite dishonest, roundabout and also unnecessary.

There's really no need for CT to try to distort itself neatly into the 8 temperaments. There's data-loss in conversion, like downsizing a large image to a smaller form factor. The phenomenon of types seems to need a higher resolution than that. So for example, there is no better way to describe the complete temperament of an FeSi-Ti than... as "FeSi-Ti". Or of the TeNi-Fi, as anything less than TeNi-Fi. Each subtype has a unique temperament irreducible to other subcategories. So within that code/subtype is all the information... such as the subtle and dynamic relationship between Te and Fi that doesn't even exist quite the same way in the TeSi-Fi, and surely not in the INF nor ENF temperament descriptors.
