Hi Everyone,
I'm new to these forums and just wanted to say hi I feel a bit clueless honestly. I've been exploring MBTI for several years and in the past year have really gotten into watching Typology videos on Youtube. I've been getting more into learning and exploring the cognitive functions but after stumbling across this article: cognitivetype.com/2018/05/06/why-mbti-mistypes-everyone/ I feel like maybe I've mislead myself completely? This all began with 16personalities typing me as an INFP. But the article as I understand it suggests that many other types are typed as an INFP. Of course, from there I began exploring my cognitive functions (working under the assumption that I'm an INFP of course) and as a side exploration looked into Enneagram (4w5). Now I'm feeling a little lost and worry I've made assumptions about myself that are incorrect.
Anyone else relatively new (or not) also feeling like maybe they don't know their type as well as they thought they did?
Hi ! I am new too and I also got typed as INFP when I did the MBTI test. But I honestly believe I am FiNe or NeFi anyway, I just want someone to confirm for sure which one and to tell me how to develop Te better and faster and I would also like to know how to deal with some types that are harder for me to understand.
I actually really felt like the whole mediator description of the INFP was about me, about my life. But maybe everyone does that at some level, we all want to find some balance and we are all sensitive in a way or another. A lot of the stuff about INFP on the 16 personalities site and on other sites like that is very general.
I noticed that something was wrong with a little group of friends. We are all playing DnD, this is how we met and this is what holds the group together. Me and the DM did the test first, I got INFP and she got ENFP. I thought it's totally possible, we are close friends and have some common interests and she has more friends than I do and goes out more, so it made sense that she was ENFP and I was INFP. But after that I asked 2 guys from the group to do the test and both got INFP too. At this point I started to feel something must be wrong, especially because INFP should be a rare type. I thought maybe Ne and Fi are more common between gamers or between fantasy lovers but still it was weird to have 4 people tested and one of them to be ENFP and the other 3 to be INFP.
So yes, I think there is something wrong with the test. You can do a video and post it and get typed here. I'm sure it will be more accurate.

Hi Bera, nice to meet you
That's really interesting that all the people in your group of friends got NFP results. Thanks for letting me know about the option of getting typed on here I will have to work on doing a video for it some time soon.
I noticed you've had quite a few responses about your type from your typing video
Yes, some people answered but I'm not sure about the answers because some said I am NeFi and some said I am SeFi. Also, some people suggested I might have developed Te but I'm not sure about that - I sure hope this isn't the highest point I can develop Te. But most of the people who answered are new here, so I think I need someone with more experience to type me to know for sure.
I will do a new video anyway, in which the camera is right in front of me, so it will be easier to see my eye movements and I also suggest this to you, because I think it's harder to type someone when the camera is below or above their face. (in my case this was all that my camera could do because the wire was very short so I actually got a new one and I'll see how this one works)
I'm curious what types we actually are - maybe we find out we are totally different types or maybe we are actually FiNe. In this case, maybe we could make a Te development thread for FiNe people? Because...this is actually the best thing about CT, they are practically saying that you can develop functions !!! MBTI doesn't give you any hope at all, it just says - so, you are sensitive and imaginative and would make a good artist. And you're like but...I don't have any artistic talents, I am working in a company where I need to be efficient, what do I do, please help me!! and MBTI says - You are so sensitive and creative !!! Go write a book ! And you're like - But I don't have writing skills, I must amend this contract in favor of my client. And MBTI says : Your imagination is a wonderful resource and you love animals ! So...it gives you no solution for your issues. And I think CT actually gives solutions - developing another function is a solution. Because..our situations don't always fit a specific type. You are not always a talented fairy type who lives in a fairy village surrounded by reindeer. And MBTI somehow starts from the assumption that you are and that your fate is written in stone and that if you leave the fairy village to work in Santa's toy factory you are failing at life. But...but maybe the fairy village burns to the ground and you only find a position at Santa's factory lol. A theory should apply to all situations not only to the ideal ones, I think.
