I have a theory around identifying the Pi,Pe,Ji,Je function groups through voice tone, and the more I look at this, the more it seems like it has a very high level reliability (and ease to apply), and it could change certain reads. You guys can tell me if I'm full of shit with this or not.
Pi-leads have to them a characteristic apathetic quality to their voice, they talk like it's a chore for them.
Compare below david letterman's voice to Julia Roberts and see how easy it is to tell apart function order when paying conscious attention to voice.
Je-leads (and Ji) will "emphasize", on a higher percentage of their words, they'll be kind of "jerky" and "forceful".
Pi-leads will only emphasize a few words in their sentences and the rest are lacking in intonation. It produces a sound kind of like "reluctance" or "whatever" in their voice when articulating.
examples.
0:35 It was a WIG in the movie. But IT IS the same hair color.
0:43 GOSH this is a GREAT STORY to start with. Because IT WASN'T the same color in the movie.
2:20 You see this massive gingerbread house.
0:27 I was trying to come up with a MOVE and ya....
1:00 My cousin is always asking me if I've said HELLO for him yet and
1:10 and I always say NO, so he said hello.
This "apathy" can be confused in situations where the person actually has a sort of gloominess and dread to them at that moment. I.e. Morrissey, the videos where I'm talking, swiveling etc. And also Ni/Se in JeNi's can occasionally produce a sort of apathy. But for the most part it's not mistakable at all.
Funnily enough, Pe-leads possess a calm voice, and I think the reason why is that Pe-leads at every moment are waiting to just scream "AAAAH!", so talking at a regular volume is done very easily, you get a sense they could be talking much louder, and theres also a feeling of "assertiveness" in it, (even if the Pe-lead in question isn't assertive). Je-leads can have a similar calmness due to excess of energy, but in general it's negligible.
It's hard for me to put exactly, but Pe-leads have an elongation to the words they say, rather than just talking and talking, the words are sort of longer due to the calmness. Pe-leads are always going very slightly "Hiii Whhaatt's gooiinngg oonn"? Rather than the other groups who just say things flat out.
I'll post pe-leads to demonstrate, though this should apply to any Pe-lead you look up.
Ji-leads have an importance in the way they say things, they usually speak slower, and say things tensely and like they really mean it. (in stark contrast to Je-leads). When a Ji-lead emphasize a word, the "importance" to them or feeling like they really mean it will be clear. Like Je-leads they will also intonation on a higher percentage of words. It's worth noting, that Ji-lead males (such as tony hawk) will in general will put less importance in their words, (the same way Pi-lead females can have less pronounced apathetic voice), but it's still there regardless.
Ji-lead emphasis.
They are the type that comes off the most unnatural in their tone of speaking, it's not that they have unpleasant voices, but for the most part they don't have the same ability to present things in terms of being talk show hosts or giving speeches. Any Ji-lead interviewer is probably going to be for one on one interactions. Ji-leads to have the voice that is most lacking in any kind of striking quality, you don't go "wow this person sounds apathetic" or "wow this person sounds really calm" like you do with the other groups.
