Welcome to the INT board! Where we can talk about INT stuff and our life problems (without the fallacy of thinking it's only coming from TiNe or NiTe). I've spent a great deal of time on INTPforum and have seen firsthand the diversity that exits in the population of people who identify as "INT" and for the longest time I've wanted to isolate what this is. To help break this down, here are the eight "INT" subtypes and the range of people that actually make up this temperament.
TeNi-Ni Isaac Newton
Often typed as INTJ (NiTe) in other typology circles, TeNi Isaac Newton was a reclusive, antisocial, unseelie bastard. But unseelie Te-leads are often like this. Standard definitions of introversion very much apply to antisocial Te leads, and Newton fits firmly into this category. His INT reputation comes from his achievements in physics/mathematics, but the "N" part of his temperament can be seen most clearly in his less known dabblings into alchemy. He was a mystic of sorts and sought to uncover the date of the second coming of Christ, the transmutation of materials into gold, and the like. Another potential TeNi caricature who is INT is Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory. Socially reclusive, but very much 'object-oriented' through Te and its empiricism.
FiNe-Te Edward Witten
Now this is your typical "INTP" guy, Edward Witten, a nobel prize winning theoretical physicist who is actually FiNe. Others who would probably fit into this category are Bill Gates and Einstein, although they may be ENT by temperament instead. The passive, glasses-wearing INT is of this variation. Linus Torvalds and Neils Bohr also fits into this variation.
SiTe-Ne Rainn Wilson
One we don't see talked about very often is the SiTe's that identify as "INT". I've got my suspicions for quite a few of these lurking about INTPforum. This is the Dwight Schrute stereotype. Similar in form to the above, this is another INT delta variant. Antisocial, nerdy, reclusive, but actually quite particular with their things and Si in their information architectures. But because of Si's rather detached nature, and an Ne subtype, IST becomes INT for this one. They will often mistype as INTJ's as well, depending on whether their Te really motivates them to externalize order. Because of their Ne subtype, however, they can also identify very much as scattered and in constant logistical disarray.
NiFe-Ti Carl Jung
Then we have the INT's that are actually analytical NiFe's with a Ti bent. Others of this variation are Jelle's favorite philosophers like NiFe Franz Hartmann and NiFe Humberto Maturana. Julian Assange also fits into this category and is another one who I'd expect people would type as INT. As Beta INT's, they often have political grievances with social hierarchies and any overly-scientific approach to truth or knowledge. This is the "alchemist" shade of INT and one of the ones most prone to create theories of mind. They dabble heavily in epistemology and unifying theories.
TiNe-Ti Randall Munroe
I'm not 100% sure if Randall Munroe is TiNe-Ti or FiNe-Te because his anatomy and ethnicity cause some natural Fi snarling appearance, but in either case he would be INT. Creator of the xkcd.com comic strip, the website is essentially a window into the mind of a reviser INT type. The NeTi-Ti, TiNe-Ti and FiNe-Te in particular will deeply relate to xkcd.com - I suspect. His book "What if? : Serious scientific answers to absurd hypothetical questions" captures the simultaneous hilarity of their Ne process as well as their T orientation in problem solving.
TiSe-Ni Elon Musk
Now another one whose often seen as an INTJ mastermind is TiSe Elon Musk. He has function development in Ti+Se+Ni so it's a tossup as to which subtype we wish to allocate him to. (A psychoanalytical approach is necessary to get more granular about who he is as a person). Nevertheless his temperament aptly fits into INT. Despite his great fame, he remains a soft spoken, calculative, rather reclusive individual who is guided by sci-fi visions of the future, and an Ni sense of inevitability. However, he also has that Beta ST energy, ergonomic proclivities/appreciations, and no shortage of class.
NiTe-Ni Wolfgang Pauli
Much like Isaac Newton, NiTe Wolfgang Pauli had a reputation for being ill humored, and/or blunt. He also had a reputation for engaging in a variety of sensory indulges (polar Se). But in his day job, he was a brilliant physicist that participated with Bohr and others in the groundbreaking moments of modern physics. Carl Jung consulted with him as well and identified him as INT in temperament, which I think is certainly correct.
NeTi-Ti Ryan McGinness
And here we have an example of an NeTi who is INT in temperament. Still a bit zany; that never goes away. McGinness is an artist that integrates symmetry and structures into his artwork, making them expressions that are part science and part theory. Others who might fit into this category are physicists like Lawrence Krauss, although he might also fit into ENT.
