After finding out that Ewan McGregor was the same type as me, I thought of something. I saw a documentary last year called Automatic Brain that said that people are subconsciously attracted to people who share similar features as they or people they love have. Since type influences the physical appearance of a person via their mannerisms, maybe that has something to do with attraction.
This, of course, does not take in to consideration the other factors that influence attraction.
My cousin was basically in love with Nick Jonas since she was like 8. There is an ongoing joke that someday she will "marry Nick Jonas". I'm curious to see what type he is, to test the theory.

I see that he has meticulous hands with soft wrists and manners, his smile seems open and relaxed, he looks quite zen in photos but with a little bit of tension to the jaw sometimes so I deduce that he must be a Ti-Fe user but not Fe polar, plus he is quite articulate and not gangly like a Ti lead, is more laid-back and continue to talk while his eyes look elsewhere and lead the face, not answering in very forceful pushes, so he could be Pi-lead. He has small eyes resting in socket that seem to gently brush and not sharply fix his interlocutor, the brow is a bit heavy, like Si-Ne. I am thinking of SiFe or something along the line for now.
I find the theory interesting overall and gave it some thoughts myself.

The first thing you said reminds me of the "relation theories" of socionics, basically: the best and most productive relations are with the type who share the same functions you have, with a preference for the duality, two inverse types (example: NeTi/SiFe). The 3 girls i had a crush with in my life were Fi/Te users. Quite funnily for the socionics duality i don't have a great attraction for my duals, the same on the contrary or at least it is not happen yet. Personally, i find that theory exaggeratedly deterministic, but if you want to deepen the theory here the page in wikisocion. About the guy: i agree with ayoungspirt that he has Fe/Ti, for the moment i'm confused with the P functions, the shape of the eyebrows reminds to me more Ni than Si, so i'll return here later.

This is an interesting theory especially if one assumes that we may subconsciously recognise that facial features, mannerisms etc are a gateway to the psyche and in turn this stimulates attraction to that person because of recognised similarities or even opposites. This may work more profoundly on a first date where our sense of observance of a new person is intensified and we are more susceptible to picking up on those subtle cues and nuances. The more you get to know someone the less you rely on this mode because the knowledge you have of that person is judged on a holistic database of information. However, it would be applicable to producing first impressions and the initial "gut" feeling of a person. Certainly food for thought....
This thread might be of interest. Erifrail asks if forum members are more attracted to a person who has an opposite or similar personality/attitude?
I thought about this theory before but I have not arrived to a conclusion. Personnally, if I recall my experience, I tended to be attracted to all kinds of types, but the ones who made an impression on me tend to be SeFis and NeTis. I dated once a JiNe though and a one I was attracted to was a SeTi or TeNi (they can look alike for some reasons). I remember a guy in middle school who I had an instant crush but I can't clearly recall his functions, I'm sure he uses Si/Ne and he seemed to be P-lead, I wouldn't surprised if he was SiTe but I think he was more a Ne-dom. Another guy that I found troubling was a SiFe, another one was a SeTi (not sure but quite likely). Hmm... I don't see much a pattern here... But i probably just like many kinds of people

Haha yeah. I don't think I believe that dual thing. Especially since my parents are each other's dual and they had a horrible relationship that ended badly.
I think I maybe should have explained what I meant in a bit more depth. What Automatic Brain says, is that, when it comes to physical attraction, we as humans have an affinity for the familiar. The face shape, proportions and look that we find most attractive (on a purely looks basis) are those which are similar to our own or to those of people we are close to/love or feel safe around.
My very tentative theory is: Since the processes control what muscles one uses primarily in the face and body, it affects the static, purely looks based appearence of the person. We then might unconsciously find more attractive the looks derived from certain muscle contractions - brought on by different functions in different positions - in the face over others (in a purely look based situation). Or not
I also agree with Reckoner that it is most prevalent in the initial stage, before one gets to know the person. It's mostly about gut reactions.
I also see FeTi, but not sure of the perceiving functions. Leaning towards SiNe, though.
There's also a theory that we are prone be attracted to people that remind our closest caretakers, usually mom or dad. My mom is quite definitely FiSe, dad probably FeSi, so it's a total mess. If I think of my past crushes, they are more prone to have my functions (gamma), although there are exceptions with regard to judging functions, but they all ended badly. It has happened IRL that people with high Fe don't like me, or we just don't understand each other.
