This is a forum mini-series aimed to elaborate on some of the quotes found in the CT book.
Where to begin! Well, one could find examples in Filatova's book, but also from www.the16types.info, which was given permission by Filatova (now deceased...) to share some of her images. "It should be noted that Ekaterina Filatova did not herself use visual identification ("V.I.") to diagnose the types of the people in her books. She simply began to notice similarities between people of the same type and tried to capture them through photos." - Wikisocion
Here are some of the collages Filatova put together from her patients:
Alpha Types: www.the16types.info/vbulletin/content.php/136-Filatova-portraits-Alpha?s=418d02ba0057bca40486acafd3616036

Beta Types: www.the16types.info/vbulletin/content.php/152-Filatova-portraits-Beta?s=418d02ba0057bca40486acafd3616036

Gamma Types: www.the16types.info/vbulletin/content.php/153-Filatova-portraits-Gamma?s=418d02ba0057bca40486acafd3616036

We can also find several curious correlations, for example in the graphic found here. Seen below:

We can see here, in this blurry image, the four quadrants quite clearly. The Beta type is over there being smooth, with hypnotic eyes and a nice horizontal smile that is charming and cunning. The Alpha girl is approachable, social and a little spontaneous in her look. She also has quite the Fe smile going on. The Gamma girl has a classic sharp gaze and a small, taut smile; very classy, well dressed and sensational. The Delta girl looks like she could be a D&D expert that competes with the boys - but who is also silly and a little off-beat.
And again we see it here, in Filatova's own book cover (I've added the black text myself to denote the quadrants):

The βtwinβ people Ekaterina Filatova saw were due to a legitimate typing approach. That is to say, she was typing people correctly enough through purely psychological means that visual correlations began to emerge and which she could not wholly ignore.

The Beta type has those lowered eyelids, the forward arrow from the zygomaticus tension (i.e. "upset") in the mouth... and a generally suave look. The Gamma girl again shows tension running up the nose, taut cheeks (you see the shadows of the cheeks quite distinctly) and a pair of eyes that are peeled to the brim of her eyelids; sharp eyebrows too.
The delta girl looks, again, a little bit nerdy but fun in a sort of tomboy way; she has more relaxed eyes but has some of that tension around the mouth. And the Alpha guy also has more relaxed, almost rounded, eyes but a charming sort of smirk. He looks like he'd be a grounded Si individual.
It seems clear to me that Filatova was onto something, and I would love the chance to chat with her about this book. Unfortunately she passed away a few years ago.
p.s. I should note that I did not come across Socionics until way late into the game. I noticed the correlations above only within the last year or so, while the initial hypothesis of CT formed about 4 years ago. But it leaves me in awe to see how accurate she was in some of what she saw. If only she had gone further with it, we could have had CT decades ago.
