Because I'm an obsessive Ti+Si, my white whale has for years been to create a diagram of the functions that is colorful and easy to read. This means each function gets a color. I have been learning that human psychology makes this impossible. Everyone loves red and/or blue, and very few people like yellow and orange. Pe-leads' favorite colors tend to remain in flux, so picking a single color for them wouldn't do the psychology justice. I personally tend to associate a weird golden yellow mustard to Te, for no other reason than that I identify least with that color and function. The only solid thing I can say for sure is that Si is brown (sometimes gray, sometimes green) and that Ti is some cool bluish tone.
Anyway, I'm not here to brag about my failures. I'm here to ask everyone what colors they personally associate with each function, if they do so at all. Shapes and types of motion are also legitimate input.
I'm an artist with a particular love for creature design, so I want to make creatures that represent each function that are absolutely subjective to my perceptions, but still communicate a solid concept about what the functions do and what they feel like.
Ne: Pink! Yellow! Sky blue! Bright, airy colors that convey space and freedom and joy.
Fi: Mmm...silver often comes up for me, as does lilac purple and teal. Misty colors, soft and dreamlike, creating a mood of reflection and one's inner world.
Te: Brown, like the firm ground beneath us, representing law and order and convictions set in stone.
Si: A patchwork mix of different colors - hoary white, earthen tones, gray-blue, etc. Many different experiences and memories and lessons, all sewn together into a pretty quilt.
Se: Red, lemon yellow, radioactive green. Dynamic colors, sharp and bright, drawing one into the vibrance of the moment.
Ti: Gray and white, neutral colors against which all others are compared, the snow which reveals how dingy and dim even the whitest woolly sheep is in comparison to its radiance. Clear and crystalline, a prism turning white light into rainbows and revealing the many little nuances of color.
Fe: Scarlet, orange, golden - the colors of flame, of passionate emotions and noble courage, the will to fight and defend and protect. But also different shades of green, from seafoam to pine, for when Fe is the healer rather than the warrior.
Ni: Black, like the depths of space, like the abyss of the ocean - mysterious, fathomless, something you could stare into and wonder about forever. Against a black backdrop has the entire universe performed the story of life for countless eons, and just what is next to come can only be imagined and predicted. Black is the color of creation, of magic, of prophecy. If Ne is the daytime, with new possibilities arising each time the sun brightens the sky, then Ni is the starry night, under which many either entertain dreams or contemplate the meaning of life.
I, uh...hope that didn't sound too cheesy. Well, enjoy~
I have this image/sound/feeling that I think represents Ni. It has that inertial Pi feel...uhh...like a massive spherical object swinging concentrically in a void black/purple space, swerving into different directions but with a predictable rhythm/arc, gradually losing momentum... it makes a warping/whooshing sound (like if a car speeds by you) that slows down and deepens with each rotation. It would leave tracks like this:
I also associate fractals with Se-Ni:
I associate Ne with bubbles and with primary/pastel/iridescent colors, stuff like this:
Not sure about judgment functions. Ti and Fi both feel transparent, but are distinct in their relationship to light, which I guess is representing life/ethos. Maybe Ti acts as a void (appears black), absorbing and filtering out the light delivered from Fe, while Fi is illuminated internally, with hue and saturation varying according to it's alignment with the object, with Te (being of substance / not transparent) decisively blocking and redirecting the light radiating from Fi's core...That leaves Fe to be of substance and light, maybe a solid core with an illuminated surface...
I had the idea last night that Ti is clear and prismatic, while Fi is colored glass. Ti has no color on its own, but filters white light into its constituent colors and puts then in order. Fi instead filters light according to alignment with its own, with same or complementary colors appearing brighter and opposite colors appearing black.
Ne is Electric, Water, Ghost, Flying, maybe Fairy... or maybe it's a Normal type that can change its type around.
:DDD I've been waiting to read discussion of this! I like to think I'd be a Flying type, so I can definitely get behind your choices here! (disclaimer: I don't actually play Pokemon, I just find the type thing interesting)
