As a ready-made-model, it cannot be applied. There are features of it that do seem to have applicability (take free education and health care for example). It's not perfect though, but in general it's more on a positive side of the wager. That was my point in the first place: there are options that are not ultimately grim, even if there's a lot to improve. The world, society, human beings are all plastic/morphing organisms. I shy away from any kind of essentialism; I see it as illusory and creating unnecessary contradictions. This said, our views on human nature seem to be radically different, and as long as we don't find any common ground, discussion is not fruitful. I do hope that you would feel better, and from my point of view, that option is available.
You obviously have very little idea of whats happening around you and in the world in general. You try to make a point, but its a very weak point nonetheless. Not every Nordic country has managed to survive. Take Ireland for example. They aren't making as good as you think they should. The reason why the countries you are referring are holding up better than the others, are because they are having more capacity to take beating. They obviously will face what others faced. But in a bit later time.
And since you have very little information of whats happening around you, it also apparent that you aren't capable of holding up on conversation about it and quickly retreat from it. No problem. You are not the only person who do that.
And the reason why you do that is simple. BECAUSE YOU CAN.
Ireland is not a Nordic country. Iceland is. But who cares about the facts, when we have our private prophecies at hand. I admire your sense of conviction.
I don't know who you are talking to here, or whether you even realize we are actual people. I feel like a some kind of foreign movie character, whose lines are dubbed from a naΓ―ve artsy psychodrama into a propaganda film. It would be easier if you replied to yourself, because you seem to have written the script anyway. Now I feel a bit bad and sad for having spent so much time and energy on this conversation, but I understand you don't mind that, because this is a learning curve for me to understand reality. Maybe you do care about us in the end.
If you sharpened your imagination just a little bit, you might be able to make up more reasons for people retreating from conversations with you. I try to stay optimistic and believe you can do that.
